Waste Disposal Centre Opening Hours

Council operates three waste disposal sites. One at Coleambally, one at Darlington Point and one at Jerilderie. The open pit method of disposal is used with fencing provided to control litter. The sites are operated on scheduled opening hours under supervision and closed at all other times unless access is specially arranged.The Murrumbidgee Council's Waste Disposal Centres are open on selected days for residents' and ratepayers' use.

Jerilderie also operates a Common Tip with limited use.

 In the event of a total fire ban day, the Waste Disposal Centre ( the Tip) will be open for the first hour of the advertised opening times as follows:

  • Monday 8.00am - 9.00am

  • Wednesday 3.00pm - 4.00pm

  • Friday 8.00am - 9.00am

  • Sunday 2.00pm - 3.00pm


Conditions of Use

Council has set minimum standards which must be met in the interest of safety Council has set minimum standards which must be met for safety reasons by all members of the public who wish to use the Waste Depot sites:-
  • no scavenging, browsing or other activities not immediately associated with the dumping of waste;
  • all children under 12 years of age are to be closely supervised by their parent/caregiver, and children under 6 years of age must be confined to the motor vehicle, whilst on site;
  • substantial robust footwear giving full foot coverage must be worn by all users whilst out of their vehicles at the site;
  • no dumping of prohibited waste, being
    • any chemicals
    • any tyres; and
    • no lighting or maintenance of fires for any purpose whatsoever.


The Common tip is utilised for larger non household building or farming waste.  Access to the tip is only available by obtaining a key from the Shire Offices.  Keys will only be provided when the following has been met:

  • The load is sighted and approved by a Council officer
  • A $50.00 key deposit is provided to Council
  • The relevant fee is paid for the items being dumped
  • The key to be returned by close of business the same day
